General Motors, the American automaker has finally unveiled the much-awaited new generation 2016 Spark hatchback at the ongoing 2015 New York Auto Show. Just so you know, the Chevrolet Spark is sold as the Beat hatch in the Indian auto industry, though this model is not made for India. It is a completely re-designed model, which is equipped with advanced comfort, convenience and safety features. According to the company, the new Spark offers improved efficiency and refinement, along with new safety and connectivity features.
The new-generation Spark gets completely revamped exteriors and interiors. It features a new dual-port grille that is flanked by more traditional headlamps. The bumper has new fog lamp enclosure with chrome surround. Moving backward, we can see more aggressive creases that run across the length of the hatchback. Other changes include new sloping roofline, a new tailgate design with integrated spoiler and new alloy wheels. The company claims that the overall height of the car has been reduced by 40mm, which helps in reducing aerodynamic drag and improves efficiency.
The all-new interiors look upmarket and feature loaded. It is equipped with new, comfortable seats with higher-quality fabrics, advanced dot-matrix instrument cluster display, trapezoidal air vents, Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system with 7-inch display.
It is powered by a new 1.4-litre EcoTec 4-cylinder engine that produces 98bhp of power. It will be made available with a five-speed manual and a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) gearbox. The new Spark will be manufactured in South Korea, and is likely to be exported to more than 40 countries.
