Volkswagen has inducted new range of Polo in India, while the tweaked Polo is available for sale in domestic market, 2014 Cross Polo crossover will be officially launched in September. However, details are out on the revitalized Cross Polo. The crossover will be made available only in diesel version and will be powered with the company’s newly developed 1.5 litre TDI diesel powertrain. This is the same engine that has been housed in new Polo diesel variant and will also offer the same power output of 90 PS at 4200 RPM along with peak torque of 230 Nm between 1500 -2500 RPM. Volkswagen’s new engine is available in two states of tune, while the 90 PS version powers Polo diesel and Cross Polo, the 105 PS variant is fitted in the GT TDI trim of Polo.
Cross Polo facelift will be offered only in manual transmission, a five-speed manual gearbox will be mated to the diesel motor. The newly developed diesel engine is frugal and is claimed to return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 20.14 kmpl.
Tweaks made on the exterior include new lights, wheels, bumpers, grille, side body mouldings, Cross Polo badge and a restyled bumper. Volkswagen will offer dual front airbags as standard feature on the new Cross Polo crossover. Volkswagen has introduced the 2014 version of Cross Polo at a prelusive price of Rs 7.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Hence the price could alter a few months after it is made available for sale.
