LEDs are being extensively used in the S-Class and this includes vanity mirrors as well.

Though no official details on the S-Class engines are available so far. While it's still too early to confirm any details, Research & Development (R&D) boss Thomas Weber had stated earlier that a several direct-injected and turbocharged engines will be provided in the new sedan. It is anticipated that the new S550 would be fitted with a twin-turbo V8 engine, generating a maximum power of 429 bhp. As against this, the S600 should get the company's new twin-turbo V12 behemoth, good for 510 bhp of power. The sporty S63 AMG version would be fitted with a twin-turbo 5.5 litre V8, pumping out 550 bhp to play with.

In addition, Weber had previously mentioned that the plug-in hybrid engine used in the 2009 Vision S500 Plug-In Hybrid Concept would be seen in the W222 series S Class. With this engine, the car will take less than 6 seconds to accelerate from 0-100 kmph and providing a class-leading mileage of 29.76 kmpl.
