Honda has launched the 2014 City sedan in Malaysia in four trims S, S+, E and V, all the trims come equipped with a petrol engine and are proffered in automatic transmission only. The fourth generation of the City sedan has been priced at RM 75,800 for the base S trim (Rs 14.05 lakh), S+ trim is available for sale at RM 78,800 (Rs 14.61 lakh), E variant is tagged at RM 83,800 (Rs 15.54 lakh) and the top-of-the-line version of new City sedan, V is being proffered at RM 90,800 (Rs 16.84 lakh).
Besides Malaysia, 2014 Honda City is also available for sale in India and Thailand. Honda has put on offer both petrol and diesel avatars of new City sedan in the Indian auto market. The diesel version was specifically designed to target the swelling demand for diesel powered cars in India. City sedan is available in both manual and automatic transmission in the domestic market unlike Malaysia.
Among the modifications made to the new City, a revamped front, reworked bumpers, increased wheelbase proffering larger cabin space are included. All the trims come with halogen head lights, Chrome outer door handles are given on the E and V trims, however the S and S+ trims get body coloured outer door handles. Side mirrors with turning lights are present only in the E and V variants.
Standard features offered on the inside include front and rear power windows, power adjustable door mirrors, one touch turn signal, ECON button and height adjustable driver seat. City’s top end variant, V on the other hand is equipped with exquisite features like steering wheel switch cruise control, air conditioner with auto touch panel, leather wrapped steering wheel and gear knob. Other features that are packed in the E and V trims include rear vents, front center console with armrest, rear foldable 60:40 seats, smart entry with push start button, steering switch audio control, rear armrest with cup holder and power retractable door mirrors.
Honda City’s high end version also gets eight speakers, audio system with CD, 1 AUX socket, 2 USB ports, one HDMI socket, 3 accessory socket and an auto volume by speed function.
Apart from these, the top-of-the-line variant is also bestowed with features like steering wheel switch voice recognition control and steering wheel switch hands-free telephone control.
Among the standard safety features across trims, ABS, EBD, dual front SRS airbags and brake assist are included. However the E and V trims get additional features like vehicle visibility assist, hill start assist and emergency stop signal. Side curtain airbags are given only on the V trim.
The Malaysia bound new City is loaded with a 1.5 litre, four pot, 16 valve SOHC, i-VTEC gasoline engine that comes with a displacement of 1,497cc and generates 120 PS at 6,600 RPM along with 145 Nm at 4,600 RPM. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five speed automatic CVT gearbox. New City is available in five colour options in Malaysia including brilliant sporty blue metallic, taffeta white, modern steel metallic, alabaster silver metallic and crystal black pearl.
Honda is also offering two add-on packages to the customers in Malaysia. The first package includes a body kit, side skirts, boot spoiler and door visors, this package is available for RM 3,200 (Rs 59,350). The second package offers foot lights, sports pedal, side step illumination, trunk tray and trunk organiser and is available for RM 1,700 (Rs 31,529).
