The popular Vista hatchback from the stables of Tata Motors is now available in a new 88 bhp 1.3 litre Quadrajet diesel engine and is named as Vista Quadrajet 90. This engine also powers Fiat Punto 90HP Sport, Linea, Tata Manza and Maruti Suzuki SX4. The Quadrajet 90, which is the fourth variant of Vista is priced between Rs. 6.03 lakhs and Rs. 6.63 lakhs.

Despite undergoing a facelift in 2011, the Vista hatch has experienced a slump in its sales in the past few months and the company would, therefore, be hoping the new variant to boost its sales. The new Vista, however, doesn't come with a lot of changes, except for the more powerful engine and slightly enhanced interiors, which is similar to that of Manza saloon. The cabin of the Vista has been revamped with the instrument console now going behind the steering wheel rather than at the centre of the dashboard. The dash has received a slight leather touch, which gives the Vista Quadrajet 90 interiors an appealing look.

While the roof of all the ZX ands VX Vista Quadrajet 90 has been painted black, a large number of features of these two variants are different. The VX has been provided with features like power windows, ABS, EBD and central locking and the ZX variant, apart from these features, comes with alloy wheels and airbags. The new Vista has decent space, for both the front and the rear passengers and its boot space too is generous to house a good number of luggage.

The powertrain of the new Vista differentiates from that of its older sibling only in the fact that the new engine has a Variable Geometry Turbocharger added to the 1.3 litre Quadrajet diesel motor. The engine is capable of churning out a power as high as 88 bhp at 220 Nm of torque. The car is expected to have a good acceleration and pick up and should reach from 0-100 kmph in just 14 seconds.

On the whole, the new Vista Quadrajet 90 comes with slight changes on the exteriors, interiors and under the hood. It would be good to see if the buyers embrace the new Vista or its sales continue to see the downward trend.
