The all-new 2013 Chevrolet Sonic RS, the production model of previous year's enticing Aveo RS Concept, gears up for further flamboyance by showcasing itself at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show in January.

The bold looking hatchback is yet another addition to General Motors' latest small car portfolio that sets the pulse racing not only by looks but by performance too.

The similar 1.4-litre turbo four that finds a place in the Sonic line-up, capable of churning 138 hp of peak power and 200 Nm of torque, has been assimilated into the 2013 Chevy Sonic RS. The engine has been mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission, along with an optional automatic gearbox, with rare transmission ratios.

Counting on the front-wheel drive power in the best possible way, a MacPherson strut front suspension with coil springs and stabilizer bar, along with a semi-independent torsion beam axle-mount compound link-type rear suspension make their way to the car. In addition, gas-charged shocks also find a place under the hood of the 2013 Chevrolet Sonic RS. The front and rear tracks share the same dimension of 59.4 inches.

The Sonic RS would be available in the five-door body design and affixes the standard Chevy’s MyLink infotainment system to it. It would also carry a body kit, new RS-specific grille, 17-inch wheels, aluminium pedals and sports seats.

The 2013 Sonic RS confirms to offer unmatched control and safety with disc brakes at all wheels that comprise ABS and electronic brake force distribution (EBD). Electric power steering will also be a part of the 2013 Chevy Sonic RS.

The 2013 Chevrolet Sonic RS will make its way to the dealerships by next year.
