Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), India’s leading car manufacturer, has unveiled its highly anticipated new car, the new Swift DZire compact city sedan. The new Swift DZire is available in the Indian automobile market within Rs. 5.04 and Rs. 7.35 lacs. Shinzo Nakanishi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, MSIL told reporters that the current prices are introductory and will be increased in months to come.
He added, “This second new model in our portfolio within six months, demonstrates our faith and confidence in the Indian market. It is also an indicator of our ability to offer new models regularly in shorter time spans. Our engineers have brought in interesting modifications including an Automatic Transmission in the new Swift DZire to meet the aspirations of a young city family”.
As a compact sedan, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire measures less than 4 metres in length. This measurement would qualify this model to reap benefit of 10 per cent excise duty instead of the 22 per cent taxes that cars measuring over 4 metres have to pay. Now that the company has launched first compact version of its most successful sedan, it will be interesting to see how the new DZire fares compared to its previous edition.
