During the annual event of the RM Auctions in London, a 53 year-old Ferrari was sold out for a whopping $3.6 million. The auction was held in London where a telephone bidder purchased the 1958 Ferrari 250 GT LWB “Tour de France” Berlinetta paying the exorbitant amount. The event saw the auction of other vintage cars from Lamborghini and Aston Martin, however, could not reach to the price set for the sale.

The vintage Ferrari was sold through a bid, made over the telephone and it was the highest bid of the evening.

Ferrari 250 GT LWB "Tour de France" Berlinetta remains one of the greatest cars built for racing. Even today, the worth of the car is unmatched and no other super car of the current generation can compete in any way. The vintage car was sold in the United States of America for some years and a few years later, a British Car Collector brought it back to the United Kingdom. During 2005, the Ferrari was seen racing in the Mille Miglia.

RM Auctions showcased around 100 investment grade vehicles that included 25 motorcycles too. The high profile auction had set out to raise around $19 million to $23 million which is equivalent to £12 million to £15 million. Among the highly estimated vintage cars, there were some that did not sell. A 1961 Aston Martin DB4 GT that was estimated to be sold at around $1,245,906 to $1,405,638 did not enthral bidders much. Even a 1955 Ferrari 750 Monza Spyder estimated to be sold-off at around $2,395,974 to $2,875,169 had no buyer.

RM Auctions witnessed a sale of around 87% of the cars in London during their previous year's auction. Current year percentage has not been revealed as yet, however, it is expected to be around 70%.
