Land Rover Range Rover Facelift

Land Rover Range Rover Overview

The Range Rover is Jaguar-Land Rover’s flagship SUV and has been the benchmark for luxury SUVs for more than a decade. We got the new generation of the mammoth SUV more than two years ago and the Range Rover is due for its mid-life update.

The new Range Rover was built on a new chassis with fused materials to reduce the weight by about 400 kg to keep the weight in check. Also, the new Range Rover moved away from the traditional boxy design for the modern Evoque-inspired look that has now become the family face for the British SUV maker. The corners have been rounded and it now gets a raked fascia with signature LED DRLs. The DRLs might be tweaked for a fresher look along with the grille. The design of the alloys will be tweaked and so will be the tail lamp internals.

On the inside, the dash and the infotainment system will get a few tweaks along with a few changes that won’t probably meet your eye unless you look for them. It will get four-zone automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, fully electric seats, mirrors et al. Under the hood you will have the current engine options of the 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 diesel, the 4.4-litre turbocharged V8 diesel and the top of the line supercharged 5.0-litre petrol V8 engine. The car will be available in both standard and long wheel base iterations.

The Range Rover competes with the Porsche Cayenne Turbo and the Bentley Bentayga in terms of performance and luxury respectively. The facelift is expected to arrive by the end of 2017. The price tag will be north of Rs 2 crore, ex-showroom, Delhi.
