Jaguar XF 2.2... The New Cat on the prowl.
The new Jaguar is an absolute stunner!! Heads turn wherever you go. The experience starts with the much talked about handshake of the car. As soon as you enter the car , the throbbing start button urges you to press and wake the sleeping big cat. As soon as the growl is heard, the gear knob emerges from the depths along with the rotatory opening of the ac vents. The steering wheel tilts to your set position as if bowing to your every command. The new Daylight running lamp design is awesome. The shape unique. The external finish is exquisite. Tail lamps give this car the kind of look reserved for cars above 1 Cr. As far as the interiors are concerned, the car fit and finish is of a very high quality and the leather seats give a plush feel. Very elegant...not too flashy. At night the soft glowing interior ambience lighting makes you feel special. The cabin design gives a feel of being in an aeroplane cockpit and as one of my friends observed... it zooms like one too. Driving the jag is an experience by itself. The steering is not buttery soft as many of the other cars I tried and gives me a feel of the road while driving. The acceleration is smooth and the car is not shy of reaching the higher rpms. All in all the car has a SOLID feel about it and feels very safe on the road in spite of being such a beauty... a rare combination.
What Can ImproveGiven that Jaguars are from sports lineage, but the seats for the front passenger seem to be too low. This causes the thigh support to diminish and it may not be comfortable on a very loong drive. The door pockets are not large enough to hold even a small sized water bottle. And the cup holders are quite small as well. The controls are almost all on the touchscreen. Navigation can become dangerous to use, esp. if u have to make changes while driving. In other countries this feature has a voice control which is sorely lacking in the Indian version...don't know why. The map-my-India navigation is probably not up-to date and many of the important landmark buildings or Hotels are not mapped...for eg. I had to reach The Courtyard Marriott hotel and Hotel Rennaissance in Mumbai for a conference from Nashik where I live and it did not have that mapped. It did not have Temple Hill road which is a famous tourist destination in Nashik mapped. so the navigation needs an upgrade right at the basic level too. I think also that the turbo boost comes a bit slow and I have to wait for a bit after the pedal is pressed for the car to start accelerating. however once the turbo kicks in the g forces are hard to neglect or resist !
