i20 is Super! Read this before u shortlist any other car.
Spent a lot of time doing research for my brother who intended to buy a new car. Budget 5-6lac.
I was trying to convince him from moving away from TATA cos we both own a tata indigo. TATA cars have unbeatable value for money but at some point you prefer quality and finish and Ride/Drive quality as well.
He wanted diesel, so the options were, Ritz, Vista, Swift, Punto. Personally i felt Ritz was a better choice, new car, proved engine, maruti reliability etc. But still lot of things were lacking. I found all maruti cars ripped off with very basic features or interiors especially after i saw a loaded Punto. But Punto didnt score well on finish...i could relate Tata Fiat tie up from the dashboard finish (still better than Tata).
Just when we were about to freeze on Ritz diesel...i came across i20. Nothing could beat the interiors, quality, finish and drive. Features top notch, you wont find these features in any of the other cars of the same category (Jazz or even City). With 300 liters of boot space why do you need a sedan?
Now we couldn't think of anything but i20...crossed the budget but were moving a segment ahead...so settled for petrol...well it makes sense to spend on fuel than pay more for a diesel engine. Just check the list of features it offers you won't like any other car. I found it a perfect balance of quality and features. For 6.5 on road in Mumbai I found it much better than a diesel Ritz. So we bought it...not one but 2...the other one for me ;)
