Question: Since when do you own this car, what motivated you to go for the particular brand and model?

Answer:  It is a brand new car, we bought a month back. We have done close to 1000 kms on it. The reason behind choosing i10 from other available hatchbacks is cause of the popularity and reliability of the brand.

Question: Did you have a car prior to this, how was the experience?.

Answer: Yes, we had a Maruti Suzuki Wagon R with an automatic transmission for 3 years. We have always preferred models with automatic transmission and with a budget range of Rs.5 lakhs, we decided to test drive the Hyundai i10 AT. I had earlier test driven my friend’s vehicle and was happy too.

Questions: What aspect of your car impresses you the most?

Answer: The Hyundai i10 has the best styling with contemporary design and good interior fit and finish. The i10 also has proved itself as a great performing hatchback. I am very pleased about this decision and very happy that finally we got a car that suits all our needs.

Question:  What was the reason behind selling Maruti Suzuki Wagon R?

Answer:  Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is a great car and this was in addition to the bonus point of it being available in Automatic Transmission. Though the initial years of ownership were impressive but then later, the automatic transmission started creating issues. After driving the Hyundai i10AT I was very happy and was convinced that the i10 AT would be the best upgrade.

Question: Any mileage issues that you have faced with the Hyundai i10?

Answer: I am getting a mileage of around 14Kmpl in city and 16kmpl on highways, which is quite good considering traffic conditions during peak hours.

Question: Any breakdown that you faced and how was the problem solved?

Answer: No Breakdown faced till now.

Question: Any accident repairs done, insurance claimed?

Answer:  Not with the Hyundai i10. However, when I had the Wagon R, I got few accident repairs done for Bumper replacement, bonnet, fender repair and repainting etc. Claiming insurance was not a problem as body shop executives were very helpful throughout the process.

Question: Any good / bad experience that you faced at the authorized service station?

Answer: Hyundai has a very well distributed and equipped service station all over the country. Since it is the second largest car maker, they are very careful with the servicing standards. The service engineers are qualified and do give priority to quality work. Since my vehicle is comparatively new and is also covered under warranty, I prefer giving it to the official service station.

Question: How do you rate the overall ownership of Maruti Suzuki Wagon R , would you recommend the same to others?

Answer: We were very satisfied with the overall performance of the car. The cost of servicing is also manageable. One can always expect good resale value for Maruti Suzuki cars. It is a strong recommend. However since the new version does not have an AT variant, obviously the option of a new car no longer exists. Alternatively, one can opt for Maruti Suzuki A-Star AT. I found the Hyundai i10 to provide better space and comfort and hence chose the same.

Question: What is your opinion about other brand of cars?

Answer: As most of the people know, there are limited choices for availability of hatchbacks with an automatic transmission version in range within Rs.6 Lakh. Hyundai i20 Sportz is available in AT version but then the price ranges more than Rs. 8.5Lakh on road. As mentioned earlier nearest contender is the A-star from Maruti Suzuki. It would be an ideal choice for people preferring Maruti Suzuki cars.

      Conclusion

The basic idea of this article is to represent an ongoing trend in a particular segment. Hyundai i10 AT is a top priority choice for people preferring an automatic transmission car. Car manufacturers should take cues from this trend and explore introducing automatic versions in the lower price range. Such cars would help them exploit the ample opportunity and potential in the market, ultimately driving better sales figures by creating value in the market. We welcome our readers to share their opinion about the same.
