Underrated
Although it is said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the Brio looks quite nice to me, the design is quirky and different from other run of the mill hatches. Evidently there's no tailgate at the rear, there's just a glass hatch, now this dramatically increases rear visibility and hence makes this car very easy to park. I've owned this car from June 2015 - July 2018 and it was my daily driver since 2016 so I used it comprehensively for about 2 years before selling it. The interiors for one feel quite nice with the beige and black theme going on, the Center Console is basic and mainly consists of a head unit for the music system and A/C controls below that use dials which are easy to operate. The music system featured in the car is hooked up to 4 speakers which provide a lot of bass. Now coming to the performance, this car features the same 1.2 litre 4 Cylinder i-VTEC Petrol engine which is found on its elder sibling the Honda Jazz, this motor is good for 87 bhp and 109 nm of torque. The steering also provides good feedback, it's light at low speeds and weighs up well as the speeds increase and let's you know what's going on the road, the cornering stability is pretty good too, I had the chance of driving it through hilly areas once and I have to say I had a lot of fun while cornering in this car. Ride quality is pretty good too, drives around the city are comfortable and you mostly don't feel small bumps and potholes in the road. Getting in and out of the rear seat is pretty effortless too. Servicing also doesn't cost much about ₹ 4-5k per service, which I think is reasonable for a car made by Honda because they usually charge a premium over the competition.
What Can ImproveThe Honda Brio definitely needs Dual Airbags and ABS as standard fitment to further strengthen it's case, fuel economy also needs major improvement as the car averages around only 12-13kmpl in the city and 16 kmpl on the highway (this also depends on your driving). There's no low end punch to this engine, it transforms at around 4 k rpm and then it really gets going and keeps pulling till the red line which is a pinch above 6 k rpm. The rear seat passengers also don't get much legroom although headroom is sufficient for someone of my height (5'10"), taller people might feel a bit claustrophobic. The boot space is okay for when you're out grocery shopping or for a weekend trip but it isn't enough for large or long items.
