      Skoda, the Czech automaker introduced the Superb facelift at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show. This was the third major revision to this luxurious saloon; however, the changes offered were cosmetic in nature. The luxurious saloon is one of the most spacious cars in its league, and is loaded with various comfort enhancing and safety features. The Superb is big in size, and is premium in nature. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is one of the most loved and popular luxurious saloon from the Stuttgart based luxury carmaker. Loaded with some leading features, the E-Class is one of the most preferred choices among executivE Class. Here we bring you a brief spec comparison between the Superb and the E-Class-

      Styling- Exterior and Interior

      The new Skoda Superb features a new front fascia with revised grille, a revised Skoda logo and mesh air intake, which presents the company's new corporate look. The butterfly shaped grille is shared with the Skoda Octavia sedan, flanked by bi-xenon headlamps with integrated daytime LEDs. It also gets revised alloy wheel design, which looks more premium and appealing. At the rear, the sedan has new C-shaped lights which is a full LED unit. The rear bumper and boot lid resembles the one found on the Volkswagen Passat. On the inside, the Superb gets new three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, revised touch-screen infotainment system, new leather upholstery for seats, wood trims for dashboard, automatic climate control and some other new additions.

      The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is undoubtedly more appealing and luxurious than the Skoda Superb. The front features 2-louvre chrome grille that accommodates Mercedes-Benz tri-star logo, carved out bumper with bold edges and uniquely designed headlamps with LEDs. The vehicle gets stylish alloy wheels, aggressive character lines and chrome lining for windows. At the rear, the sedan has LED tail lights and chrome trimmed exhaust mufflers. The cabin of the E-Class is very different compared to its competitors. It features excellent quality materials with top-notch fit and finish. It features multi-functional steering wheel, memory seats, powerful audio system, THERMOTRONIC air conditioner with separate cooling zones and rear infotainment system with TFT screens to entertain rear occupants. The sedan features the Intelligent Light system which works as per the requirement of different roads to give proper illumination.

      Engine Specifications

      The Skoda Superb saloon is available in two engine options - a 1.8L TSI petrol and a 2.0-litre TDI diesel. While the petrol unit is good for 158bhp and 250Nm of torque, the oil burner produces 140bhp and 320Nm of torque. Both motors are paired to a six-speed automatic gearbox, while the petrol version also gets a six-speed manual variant.

      On the other hand, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class is available in two petrol and two diesel engine options. The oil burners are 2.2-litre and 3.0-litre units producing 204bhp and 265bhp, respectively, while the petrol units include 184bhp, 2.0-litre and 557bhp, 5.5-litre motors. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a seven-speed automatic gearbox.

      Verdict

      The Mercedes-Benz E-Class, unquestionably, outsmarts Skoda Superb in every department. But the Superb can offer you a great level of comfort and driving pleasure at a much less price.
