      The Enjoy is Chevrolet’s reentry in the MPV segment after the Taver. Apart from the Cruze which earned Chevrolet amazing accolades and the Beat hatchback which again elevated the company’s design, the other models failed to gain any popularity. The going was not too active for Chevrolet until the Sail and Sail U VA cars. Chevrolet finally seems to have got it right about the Indian market. The Enjoy is a spacious car and is offered in both petrol and diesel options at Rs. 5.77 lakhs to Rs. 8.4 lakhs.

      The Xylo was Mahindra’s answer to Innova. It was refreshed from time to time to keep up with the Japanese but then it could not cope up with the quality offered. Mahindra Xylo already enjoys mass appeal in the MUV segment. The performance of its engine along with the interior comfort has helped it so far. However, the Mahindra Xylo promises of a more refined vehicle with the introduction of new changes and it plans to take on the rivals more aggressively. It is priced between Rs. 719278 to Rs. 1045331

      The front face of the Enjoy is decent for an MPV. It looks like a van is fixed with a sedan’s face. This one doesn’t get Chevy’s split grille but instead nicely meshes the headlight lines with that of the radiator grille.

      The lower section of the headlight flows back on the side panel and creates a dynamic waist line, which in other cases are too bland. When seen along its length, the sedanish nose looks good. Also, the wheel design is nice. The Enjoy has a ground clearance of 161mm which is low. It may score in aesthetics but then there is always a chance of it the lower floor brushing on the tall speed bumpers.

      In the Xylo, the changes that are very evident include the front grill design, which now incorporates the restyled look that has a resemblance with XUV500, though smaller. Distinc character is added to it by giving chrome treatment.

      A very touché change is the change in headlight design. It is something, which all automobiles target when renovating a car’s looks and the same idea is behind the restyled lights of the new Xylo.

      Once inside the Enjoy’s cabin, the headroom feels amazing and so does the legroom. Even in the second row, the seating comfort is superb. In our LTZ variant, we had captain seats which were finished in good quality leather. The seats are beige in color. It is not the widest MPV on sale but it manages to seat all passengers very comfortably. The third row can seat 2 adults conveniently.

      On the instrumental panel, it has a very basic triple cluster showing the engine speed, speedometer and fuel and engine temperature. The cluster doesn’t feel appealing and lacks modern features. The digital display on the speedometer showing trip reading is very difficult to read in dark conditions as it is illuminated with a blue light.

      In sync with the refreshed exteriors, the interiors too seem to have been worked on with to maintain the refreshed theme in design. The dashboard of the new Xylo comes in two-tone finish and has a good glossy finish to it.The internal door trims also boast of a woody treatment to them as well. The change in styling of the new version can be found out by comparing the one the earlier version had.

      Inside the Innova, the steering wheel feels should have been a tad smaller as this one is on the larger side. The same is faced on the Camry. It has controls mounted on it to shuffle Bluetooth and media options as well as controls to operate the MID. The entertainment system in the Innova is a 2DIN unit. It a 6” Touch screen display with Bluetooth connectivity. It has 4 speakers mounted on the door and 2 tweeters mounted on the front dashboard.

      Chevrolet offers an all new 1.4L Petrol SMARTECH Enginewhich produces a power of 104PS at 6000 rpm and a torque of 131Nm at 4400 rpm. This engine comes with a 5 speed manual transmissions. The 1.3L SMARTECH Turbo-charged Diesel Engine has been sourced from the Sail sedan. This one produces a maximum power of 77.5PS at 4000 rpm and a torque of 188Nm at 1750 rpm.

      A refreshing change is normally associated with the aesthetics of the car and some changes in the interiors as well. The Mahindra Xylo refresh though, has a new addition in the form of a new engine and voice commands for the E9 variant.

      Mahindra Xylo comes with three engine options. The 4 cylinder 2489cc mDICRDe engine, delivers a power of 95Bhp and a torque of 220Nm. The 4 cylinder 2498cc mEagle engine, delivers a power of 112Bhp and a torque of 260Nm and the 4 cylinder 2179cc mHawk engine produces a power of 120Bhp and a torque of 280Nm.

      These two attract very different type of clientele and wont barge in each other’s sales. The Enjoy clearly is for the compact MUV consumer who would just wish for a large MUV but won’t be doing long distances in it. This consumer won’t spend much on a bigger engine considering its expenses.

      A Mahindra consumer knows that any terrain in any weather, his vehicle would be very stubborn. The Xylo has a bigger heart and thus ideal for long distances. It may not be a very beautiful car or an off roader but then it does its job well.
