Independence Day is an occasion that symbolises the sheer existence of our nation and its progress over the years. Celebrated with a lot of fervour throughout the country, Independence Day, the 15th of August, makes for an occasion where people express their love for India in various ways. The most common phenomenon, in North India, is the tradition of flying kites, which signifies independence. If one comes to think, it would only be fitting to have a parade on Independence Day just like one takes place on Republic Day, wherein an extravaganza takes place for an entire day. For instance, a vintage car parade, signifying the history of Indian automobile industry and the journey of a car from being a luxury to a necessity would be absolutely amazing.

There are plenty of vintage car owners in India and asking them to parade their vehicles on the roads of the national capital will not be that big a deal. Cars belonging to pre-independence era and post-independence era would make a great exhibition and it would interest numerous people across the nation. While the aristocrats and bureaucrats of ancient times owned cars like Rolls Royce and Mercedes-Benz, these would not fitting on an occasion like Independence day, which is more about the nation as a whole.

Cars like Fiat Padmini, Fiat Classic, Hindustan Motors Ambassador and a few others would be just perfect for an occasion like Independence Day in the country. Not only do these cars signify India’s past, they would also serve as a basis for how much progress the nation has made in all these years. Though something like this does not look likely to happen, the idea of it is simply superb and would attract anyone in the country, befitting the occasion.
