Suzuki Inazuma 250 likely to be launched in January 2014

There is rife news about Suzuki Motorcycle India Ltd planning to launch GW250 (also called Inazuma 250) in January 2014. According to a report published by Autocar, the Executive Vice President of Suzuki Motorcycle, Atul Gupta confirmed that “We are going to launch the 250 cc motorcycle next month (January 2014) and new products to expand our current portfolio in the upcoming Auto Expo 2014. We are equally focussing on the scooters and the motorcycles.” However, Gupta did not disclose any information about specifications of the upcoming bike. He also mentioned that the company has a long way to go in the Indian market. At present, it is focusing on expanding its dealership network in the Indian auto market in order to reach more customers. The company is also planning to increase its production capacity by 25 per cent.

This upcoming motorcycle is expected to get a 248 cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-stroke engine. The bike company is planning to bring its new model through Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route. It will be then assembled at company's Gurgaon plant. According to industry experts, the success of this bike will mainly depend on its pricing as an aggressive pricing strategy is more likely to get the attention of domestic buyers.

Suzuki is also planning to introduce at least one new product in scooter or commuter bike segment. At present, the auto maker sells Access 125 and Swish 125 in the scooter segment, while in the commuter portfolio, it includes GS150R, Hayate and Slingshot Plus. In the superbike category, the company sells few bikes, such as GSX-R1000, GSX-R1000Z, Hayabusa, Bandit 1250SA and Intruder M800.
