Buying a new car indeed brings joy amongst most of us. However, this joyful event for a Pune based family was short-lived as the vehicle that they purchased was burned to crisp within hours of it being purchased. The Pune based Ghule family, resident of Pimple Saudagar had bought a new CNG Alto 800 CNG from Wonder Cars showroom in Chinchwad and has also performed a Puja before parking the vehicle outside their home.

At around 4 AM, Vaishali Ghule’s father in-law reportedly woke up due to some sound outside and saw the vehicle engulfed in flame. Vaishali tried dousing the flames, but the fire extinguisher did not work and by the time the fire brigade arrived, the vehicle was charred. Speaking more on the incident, Vaishali said, “Our family watched in shock as the fire engulfed the car… My children hugged me and wept inconsolably. I myself was stunned beyond disbelief. It was a scenario we had never imagined even in our wildest of dream.”

For now, sources from the dealership outlet have investigated the vehicle, but it is uncertain if the family may receive a replacement. Speaking more on the incident, Vaishali’s brother Nilesh Garade said, “When I drove the car to Morya Gosavi temple, there was no problem whatsoever with the vehicle. The possibility of foul play is also ruled out as we have good relations in the neighbourhood. However, we are yet to get any response from them regarding replacement of the vehicle. We are really very worried. We do not know what will happen. Will we get a new car or not? We are all hoping that the Maruti will take note of our plight and give us a brand new car.”

Assistant Police Inspector has denied the possibility of foul play and has indicated that it may be due to CNG leakage that the vehicle may have caught fire. However, the matter is under investigation now and more details may be known later.
