Indian consumers have started accepting diesel cars which is truly reflected by rise in sales of diesel models. There has been a considerable increase in the demand for diesel models in nearly all segments. This has made Mercedes to roll out its first of its kinds product, Mercedes E220 CDI with 2.2 litre, 4-cylinder motor model.

Mercedes is one of the oldest luxury cars that mark its presence in the Indian auto market. It has launched its new version of E-class in the Indian market to compete with Audi and BMW that have made their recent foray in the country. The new E230 petrol version is priced at Rs. 41.44 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai) while E 220 CDI shall be available at Rs. 38.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Managing Directors of Mercedes-Benz India, Dr. Wilfred Aulbur, promised that the new variants shall add to the popularity of E-class in India.

"The E-Class has sold more than 10,000 units in India since its introduction in 1995. Now the product becomes even more enticing with introduction of the new Bi-Xenon headlamps in the exterior coupled with a 3-way Memory package and electrically adjustable steering wheel, all of which are now standard with the vehicle (oh how we love competition). The two new engines will further add to the popularity of the E-Class," he said.
