Mercedes Benz rolls-out sports car SL 350 and SUV GL 500 in India

The Indian unit of Germany based leading luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz launched two luxury cars in the country on Tuesday including sports car SL 350 and sports utility vehicle (SUV) GL 500. While the SL 350 model carries a price tag of Rs 98.5 lakh, the GL 500 carries a price tag of Rs 80.9 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The SL 350 is a sports car that comes powered by a 3.5 litre V6 engine. On the other hand, the SUV GL 500 carries a 5.4 litre V6 engine. The GL 500 model has been known as one of the most powerful SUVs in the world, and the vehicle is expected to receive an overwhelming response from the growing number of SUV lovers in the Indian market.

Speaking on the occasion, Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director Peter Honegg told reporters in the National Capital, "The SL 350 and the GL 500 are two of the most popular offerings in our portfolio. I am confident that both the vehicles will woo auto enthusiasts, critics, customers and media alike."

Meanwhile, the company is also planning to bring its A and B Class cars in the Indian market. Mr. Honegg said that the company is talking to its German office to bring in smaller cars in the A- and B-Class range that may have a great market potential in India.
