With gradually diving sales of its premium mid-size sedan Kizashi, the country’s largest automaker, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) is now endeavouring to encourage the Kizashi sales with announcement of an attractive discount of Rs. 3,00,000. The steeply declined sales to the tune of 85 percent with sales standing at just 23 units during the period April to August this year stimulated the company to offer the discount scheme.

Since the festive season is round the corner and the new and grand entries being anticipated during the duration, Maruti aims to leave no stone unturned by offering its brand loyal customers an opportunity to own the scintillating and chic sedan.

In comparison to its top contenders such as Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, SKODA Superb and Nissan Teana, the Maruti Suzuki Kizashi loses the battle owing to its price determinant. The price structure is on a higher edge since the luxury sedan, launched in February last year is sold in the Indian auto market as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). While importing as a CBU, the price tag engulfs a whopping 105 percent or more of import duties shooting its price by a dual fold.

During the period April to August this calendar year, the company confirmed zero sales of the manual variant of Kizashi priced at Rs. 17.12 lakh. The dwindling demand for the model has however, compelled the car maker to offer a rebate of Rs. 3.12 lakh.

Moreover, the company is expected to consider local assembly of Kizashi in a bid to reduce its high end price subject to the positive demand for the model in the country.
