Maruti Models to Carry Volkswagen Tag

Autocar India reports in an exclusive report about future Maruti Suzuki models in the country. India will be one of the first countries in the world that will witness Volkswagen brand’s presence on Suzuki models in the country, a result of the fact that Volkswagen acquired 20 percent stake in Suzuki Motor Corp earlier this year. Now, the German car maker intends to capitalise on Maruti’s success in the country.

Both the companies are regularly interacting with each other to develop synergies at all levels. The Indian market offers huge opportunities for Volkswagen in the small car segment which seriously lacks any strong presence in a segment that comprises of nearly two-third of the sales volume in the country.

“The alliance with Suzuki coincides with VW’s decision to axe the Up!-based mini-car for India, but that would leave VW with no presence in the core segment of the Indian market below the Polo,” reports Autocar India. In the wake of present ongoing developments, Indian customers will soon witness a Volkswagen-badged A-Star and Skoda Wagon R in the market.
