Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), the country leading Utility Vehicle (UV) maker, has restarted the bookings of its flagship model XUV500 AWD in the Indian auto industry. All Wheel drive (AWD) model of this Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) is the top end variant whose bookings were stopped by the auto maker to clear the backlog of orders. Reportedly, the auto maker has some supply constraints at its production plant which has been now cleared and thus, M&M has started accepting the bookings of its top of the line AWD model. The booking charge of the model remained flat at Rs. 40,000, whereas the waiting period is of around two months.

Interestingly, Mahindra XUV500 is counted among the most successful models in the Indian auto industry and thus, there have been times when the demand for the model has exceeded its supply. Following this, the auto maker has taken severe steps to prevent the waiting periods from reaching great heights. Reportedly, M&M has delivered more over 35000 XUV500s within just first year of its launch.

The major USP of Mahindra XUV500 is its performance oriented engine, which has brilliant output with a decent fuel economy. The model has been assimilated with a 2.2 litre mHawk turbo diesel engine, which churns out a peak power of 140 bhp with a nominal torque. Restarting the bookings of top end model around festive season seems a good move from the auto maker, which will surely end up with good results.
