Kawasaki, the popular two-wheeler manufacturer seems to be on a roll with already a couple of releases under its sleeve. Recently, a month back, the motorbike manufacturing giant launched ER6n and Z250, which have become quite a success in the market. However, the manufacturer does not stop at this mark and is planning to launch the Versys 1000 in the on-going month for its Indian customers. Kawasaki has now introduced a third variant of its motorcycles types in the country. The first ones to make a debut in India were the globally renowned immortal models of the Ninja series. Having won thousands of hearts with these models, Kawasaki went on to introduce the Z series of bikes. The Indian fans were overjoyed to get their hands on the Z models, which popularised Kawasaki further. Now, it is time for the Versys 1000 and there is nothing better than this bike to continue the legacy of Kawasaki in India.

The Versys 1000, which will be introduced in the country, was unveiled at the 2014 editions of Intermot and EICMA show, held few days back. There were slight changes in this tourer model as exhibited during the shows. However, the technical specifications remain almost the same. The most noteworthy change, which was spotted during the automobile show, was a brand new headlamp. The old one was revised to introduce a new headlamp, giving a sharper and edgy appearance to the bike. Apart from this change, fans will also witness a sturdy rear frame section, which will allow the bike to have stronger paniers. These cosmetic changes have lent the bike a meaner look while keeping the performance level at the regular standard, which is characteristic of Kawasaki motorcycles.

Coming to the specifications of the Versys 1000, the bike is powered by a 1043 cc engine, which is capable of generating 120 bhp. The rotational force churned out by the bike is 102 Nm, which is mated with a six-speed gearbox. The model gets a liquid-cooled powertrain along with tri-mode KTRC traction control system. Low and full engine maps have also been provided for the new Versys 1000. The powerful bike gets 17-inch alloy wheels with 120/70 tyres at the front and 180/55 tyres at the rear. This model also gets an adjustable windshield, which was much popularised by the Ninja 1000. Tourer models are relatively new to the Indian market. Versys 1000, with an upright riding position and wide angle handlebars, can be an impeccable addition to this segment of motorbikes in the country.

Bookings have already begun for the Versys 1000 and Kawasaki dealers have tagged the booking of the bike at 6 lakhs INR. The delivery of this model will initiate from the first week of December. The bike will be marketed in the country through the CBU route, which means the bike will reach the country in a completely built-up state. The price of the bike is expected to be slated between 13 to 15 lakhs INR. Versys 1000 will compete against the likes of Suzuki V-Storm 1000 and Triumph Tiger 800XC.
