The successor model of Hyundai i10 has scored 4 points in the Euro NCAP crash test. Second generation i10 is sold as Grand i10 in India, however the India-spec model varies a tad from the one available for sale in international markets. The vehicle that has scored 4 point rating in the Euro NCAP test is the international model that comes with some extra safety features as compared to the India-spec model.

Second generation i10 sold in international markets come equipped with preeminent safety features like driver and front passenger airbags, side airbags and Electronic Safety Control. The variant which was tested comes equipped with additional features including seatbelt reminders and speed limitation device besides the above mentioned features. On the other hand, prominent safety feature like airbag is offered as optional in Asta trim of the India-spec model. ESC is not offered on any of the models of Grand i10 in India, the only safety feature that is equipped across range is the seatbelt.

The popular hatchback from South Korean car maker scored 79 per cent in adult protection, 80 per cent in child protection, 71 per cent in pedestrian safety and 56 per cent in safety assist.

After the tests the experts investigated the vehicle are drew the conclusion that the dummy used in place of a 3 year old child suffered impacts on neck and chest. When tested for pedestrian safety, the vehicle turned out to be safe from front and front centre part of bonnet, but the stern edges did not provide protection up to the mark.
