Honda reports 32 per cent growth in September 2014

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, the much reckoned two-wheeler maker in India, came up with its highest sales ever for the month of September 2014. Company officials believe that these brilliant sales figures were mainly driven by the strong demand for Activa and other commuter bikes. During September 2014, the auto maker delivered 4,38,521 units of scooters and bikes, reporting a superb growth of 32 per cent under the review of same period of last year.

Interestingly, during the Navratri festival the demand for Honda’s two-wheelers witnessed a steep hike, surpassing the barrier of 4 lakh units for the first time ever. Along with, during the period, the total sales in the first sixth months of the fiscal went over 22 lakh units.

Expressing his views on these figures, the Vice-President for Sales and Marketing, Yadvinder Guleria was quoted as saying, “September has been a phenomenal month for Honda. Our customer base has reached 18 million. We have recorded our highest ever sales of 4.38 lakh this month. From Gujarat to Kolkata, we are witnessing overwhelming customer response this Navratras and expect the cheer to continue in October 2014 as well.”

Industry experts are of a view that the growth chart of Honda will continue rising in the forthcoming festive season too. It must be noted that recently, the Honda Activa was titled as the highest selling two-wheeler in the Indian auto market as against Hero Splendor. Owing to this, the scooter is considered as the Honda’s biggest asset in the Indian auto market. Along with Activa, other participants that played a key role include the Dream series and CB Shine, which have had a large impact in achieving this feat.
