Honda City and Amaze help HCIL record 163% growth in December

Honda Cars India launched its first diesel powered car- the Amaze compact sedan in 2013 and last year, the company introduced the new generation City sedan and Mobilio MPV. All three products are doing excellent business for the car maker in the country. The company has sold 14,428 units in the country in December 2014 as against 5,493 units sold in the corresponding month in 2013, recording a hike of 163%. Adding to it, the company managed to sold 1,79,816 units in a calendar year, which is its highest since its arrival in Indian market. Honda recorded an overall growth of 67 per cent this year.

Honda Car India is now officially the third largest car maker in the highly competitive Indian car market. The first two spots are grabbed by Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai, respectively. Talking about the current fiscal, HCIL sold 1,31,133 units and registers a positive growth of 53 per cent.

Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. Vice President - Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd. said, "Year 2014 has been a very successful year for HCIL business with record sales of crossing 1.79 lakh units in the domestic market in a calendar year. 2 successful launches of Honda City and Honda Mobilio coupled with strong demand for all models throughout the year have contributed to 67% growth in HCIL sales in 2014. Honda's fast expanding dealer network in Tier III markets has further contributed to this sales growth."
