Three prototypes of Audi completed their circuits without any hassles. Audi R18 e-tron quattro Audi #1 was in the lead and finished its 188 laps by half time. Audi #2 finished the same in less than a minute of its sibling, mainly due to a sequence of speedy laps covered by Tom Kristensen. The driver of #3 Audi R18 ultra, Romain Dumas met an incident in the 13th hour, when his vehicle struck a slower moving car while lapping and ended up spinning. Because of the collision, the rear bodywork of the car needed to be replaced at an impromptu pit stop. Although Dumas faced this mishap, he still retained sixth position.
