Ford India, the Indian arm of the American auto major, is gearing up for rolling out the much anticipated compact SUV, Ecosport in the early phase of the coming year. Ford EcoSport will be the first made in India SUV to be launched from its production facility located in Chennai. The sturdy and powerful performance packed SUV had grabbed eyeballs of several SUV enthusiasts at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo held earlier this year.

Mr. Joe Hinrichs, President of Ford Motor Company (Asia Pacific), Mr. Michael Boneham, President and Managing Director of Ford India and Mr. Joginder Singh, Executive Director at Ford Business Services assured Mrs. J. Jayalalitha, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister of employing around 1,200 workers within a year across its centres established in Chennai and Coimbatore.

These top officials at Ford also confirmed that the automaker has invited the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister for heading the launch event of the Ecosport, which is planned to be launched in February or March in 2013.

The company presides over all its production and distribution operations of vehicles and engines from its Chennai facility set up in Maraimalai Nagar. Currently, the car maker employs 5,200 people in total at its production plant as well as business service centres.

While automakers are aiming high this festive season, Ford India has also devised numerous plans such as Festive Funday offer in Maharashtra offering exclusive discounts and savings along with finance schemes tagged with gifts and goodies, on its bestselling model, Ford Figo hatchback.
