Arguably, the compact SUV Ford EcoSport is one of the most eagerly anticipated new vehicle launches for the utility vehicle segment of Indian auto market. Many industry experts have already pinned the EcoSport to become a game changing product for the American auto major in the country. The little beast has kept the entire automobile industry hooked with anticipation of its launch, as compact SUVs rendered the domestic car market awestruck with some stupendous sales, last year.

Upon its launch on Indian turf, the Ford EcoSport will be pitched directly against the likes of other segment contenders, such as Renault Duster, Mahindra Quanto and Premier Rio. The Renault Duster is undoubtedly the present market leader in the compact SUV segment and has been a relishing success for the French auto major in the country. The Mahindra Quanto has also been received well by the domestic audience and along with Duster, accounts for bulk of sales in the segment. Accordingly, the Ford EcoSport's has generated a great deal of interest among domestic audience and looks like a promising product to take head-on the likes of Duster and Quanto in compact SUV segment of Indian market.

The upcoming EcoSport is expected be launched with an introductory price tag starting around Rs. 7 to 8 lakhs in the country. Further, the compact SUV will be seen sporting the much fawned upon 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine under-the-hood of its diesel variant, whereas petrol trim will be powered with a 1.5 litre motor. The American auto giant is expected to begin advanced bookings of EcoSport soon in the country.
