Ratan Tata, Chairman of Tata Group, will hand over the keys to the first proud owner of Tata Nano today at Tata Motors showroom at Prabhadevi, Mumbai. The identity of the lucky owner of the first Nano is still a mystery but it is a “common man”. It is widely anticipated that the person has taken a loan to own this small car. Today will be a defining moment for the company and the auto industry which will be witnessed at the Prabhadevi showroom in Mumbai.

As the first Tata Nano rolls out on the Indian roads today, it will also mark the beginning of the litmus test for the company where the common man will actually react to the car's credibility and the pride of owning the car.

Tata Motors has completed the selection process of selecting the first one lakh lucky owners of Tata Nano via lottery system. All the customers have already been intimated about their allotments. More than 50,000 of the remaining non-selected owners have chosen to retain their bookings and earn interest on their booking amount. The dealers have also been intimated about the deliveries of the car in their cities.
