There has been a trend of introducing sedan facelift versions of hatchback cars in the Indian circuit, and Chevrolet Sail sedan is set to be the latest to join the club. Maruti Swift’s sedan version Swift DZire has been immensely popular and cars like Tata Indigo and Nissan Sunny, which have been inspired from Indica and Micra, respectively, have also done good business. Also, Honda Brio Amaze, the sedan counterpart of premium hatchback Honda Brio is set to hit Indian roads next year. General Motors is looking to offer an attractive sedan car based on their recently launched Sail to woo Indian customers. It is speculated that the new car will join the fleet of General Motors in January 2013.

The car will have both petrol and diesel variants with a 1.3L SMARTECH Turbo-charged engine mated to the premium F17 super-slick transmission running on diesel, while a 1.2L SMARTECH engine with Dual Overhead Camshafts mated to the SH 63 Transmission will power the petrol variant.
