Audi India marks highest monthly grossing sales ever; attains growth of 82 per cent

Audi India, the completely owned division of Volkswagen Group, has recorded its highest grossing monthly sales ever in the Indian auto industry in the month of September 2012 with deliveries of 1011 vehicles. With there figurers, the German auto maker came up with a growth of 82 per cent under the review of 555 units sold in corresponding period of 2011.

Besides, the auto maker crossed the entire yearly sales of 2011, which stood at 5511 units in the first nine months of 2012 as it delivered 6417 units with a year-till-date growth rate of 52 per cent. Between January and September 2011, the brand with four rings delivered 4210 units in the Indian auto industry.

Expressing his views on the brilliant sales, the Head of Audi India, Michael Perschke, said, “Our performance in September has been stellar. We have witnessed a record month with 1011 vehicles sold, our highest ever in India so far. We are confident of crossing the 2012 sales target of 8000 cars even before the year comes to an end. We have had a very exciting 9 months in 2012 and our robust car sales amidst the taxing market scenario highlights the conviction our brand enthusiasts have put in Audi. Our Q-life range - Audi Q3, Audi Q5 and Audi Q7, continue to strengthen their leadership in the luxury SUV segment and are emerging as the top-sellers this festive season.”

Speaking on the price hike issue, Perschke commented that the increasing inflation, rising cost of inputs and depreciation in the value of rupee have forced the auto maker to hike the prices of its premium compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) Audi Q3. He further said that the company is also looking ahead to increase the prices of other models too before the end of this year.
