The recent launch of all new Datsun GO+ in Jakarta is aimed towards strengthening and expanding the global presence of Datsun brand all over the world. At the time of launch, Datsun also declared that its second in-line product namely Datsun GO is also all set to be introduced in Indonesia somewhere in 2014. Notably, Datsun GO happens to be a hatchback and will come with features that cater to specific requirements of Indonesian customers. Carlos Ghosn, Nissan Motor Company, Limited. President and CEO, was quoted as saying while unveiling the new car model, “With the return of the Datsun brand, we are changing mobility. And we’re ensuring greater access to the pride, independence and opportunities that car ownership provides. It’s exciting to know that, for many Indonesians, the first new car they buy will be a Datsun.”

Notably, Datsun GO+ has been developed as a 7 (5+2) seater MPV with ample space for passengers and luggage. Industry experts are of a view that a family with 7 members would be able to enjoy the ride together in this utility vehicle. The vehicle comes with a distinctive front fascia displaying a sleek body, dynamic silhouette and strong shoulder line. The front grille looks pretty attractive with chrome surrounds. This five-door three-row MPV offers a practical solution to the 'space requirements' of the customers. As such, this vehicle can be availed in two different configurations, two extra seats at the rear or without them for an additional cargo space.

This light weight MPV derives its power from a 1.2-litre engine that has been mated with 5-speed manual transmission. This engine offers acceptable power and torque outputs while producing minimum noise and vibration. As a results of this, a smooth ride in city or highways is always on cards. Furthermore, the engine is tuned up for delivering high fuel efficiency along with decent acceleration and pick-up during the city or highway drive. The agility factor on congested roads has been addressed by maintaining proportionate dimensions. Notably, this utility vehicle will come with length, width and height of 3,995 mm, 1,635 mm and 1,485 mm, respectively. A wheel base of 2,450 mm takes care of the space factor.

By introducing these two vehicles in the Indonesian market, Datsun brand aims to gather a share of up to 50 per cent of the total Nissan Motor sales by the year 2016. Pricing of these two newly introduced vehicles is quite aggressive. Both cars will come at a cost that is below 100 Million Indonesian rupiah. Considering this cost price, the Indonesian market simply has very limited propositions for customers to look for with a similar price range.
