South Korean auto giant, Hyundai has revealed the date of launch of updated i20 hatchback. Hyundai India’s official website shows a teaser image of the hatchback with the date of launch and it also mentions ‘bookings open now’. Official bookings of 2015 Hyundai i20 (Elite i20) has begun effective today, prospective buyers can book new i20 hatchback at authorized Hyundai dealerships. The company has also released first design sketches of the vehicle. Designed at the company’s Design Centre in Russelsheim located in Germany, 2015 Hyundai i20 has been bestowed with Hyundai’s new Fluidic Design 2.0 design language. Other changes made to the exteriors include stretched wrap around tail lamps. Refreshed i20 offers a roomier cabin as compared to its predecessor courtesy an increased wheelbase. A three spoke steering wheel with integrated audio controls is equipped inside the cabin, a new instrument cluster with multi-information display, automatic climate control, an integrated music system that enables to play music through Bluetooth, AUX-in, USB, CD, MP3 and radio are some of the features offered on the vehicle.

Mechanically, the hatchback is expected to receive no tweaks and hence it is likely to come powered with the same set of engines as seen in its predecessor. Petrol variants of the vehicle are likely to come powered with a 1.2 litre, four cylinder Kappa petrol engine that is good for a top power output of 83 Bhp. Diesel range of new i20 could get the 1.4 litre CRDi diesel mill that is capable of developing a pinnacle power of 89 Bhp. Hyundai i20 is an extremely popular B+ segment hatchback that has carved a niche for itself in the Indian market. It’s contemporaries like Maruti Swift, Fiat Punto Evo and Honda Jazz will also be rolled out in new avatar.
