BMW X6 [2015-2019]

Summary

BMW introduced the all-new X6 in 2007 and the second generation was introduced in 2014. In India, the X6 was sold in the xDrive40d M Sport and the top-spec maniacal X6M guise but at the 2018 Auto Expo, the 35i M Sport guise also joined in as an entry-level model. The X6 goes up against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, Range Rover Velar and the entry-level Range Rover Sport SDV6 S or the Porsche Cayenne S and Macan Turbo in its class of expensive SUVs.

Exterior

The new X6 gets a sharp new adaptive LED headlamps. The tail lights are also LED with a new design signature. The update retains the iconic sloping roofline set by the first generation while the crossover-coupe wears aggressive body lines and creases for an imposing presence. The 19-inch wheels are standard which can be upgraded to M-spec 20-inches. The large air intakes up front, chrome surround exhaust tips and sporty colour options make the X6 a very stylish looking SUV.

Interior

Being a luxury SUV, The X6 is as much about comfort as it is about performance. The cabin is typical BMW with a functional dash dominated by a large floating infotainment screen. All the connectivity features are available with the new BMW ConnectedDrive system. Other creature comforts such as two-zone climate control, electrically adjustable sunroof, leather upholstery along with electrically adjustable steering column, ORVMS are all available a standard fitment. It is also filled to the brim with driver aids and safety features.

Engin & Transmission

Powering the entry-level 35i M Sport variant is a 3.0-litre inline-six petrol engine with 300bhp and 400Nm with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The xDrive40d has a 3.0-litre turbodiesel under the hood producing 313bhp and 630Nm. The full-blown X6M gets the M-Division’s 4.4-litre V8 punching out 575bhp and a neck-breaking 750Nm of torque.
