When it comes to B-Segment hatchbacks, the game has changed a lot, since the time the Swift came to town. Hyundai truly upset the party with the introduction of the i20. Two generations later, the Hyundai i20 Active which is one of the most vibrant displays of the manufacturer’s product prowess is absolutely crushing it in the market.

Here’s a list of 10 things you would like in the Hyundai i20 Active:

      1.    This is one variant that actually follows in the successful footsteps of its predecessor. The i20 Active takes off after the regular i20 hatchback that has successfully ruled the roost among B-Segment hatches.

      2.    The exterior styling, particularly at the front deviates from the usual Hyundai family norm. The grille is now inverted on the Active, giving it a more sporty appeal. At the rear, the oversized reflectors in the rear-bumper achieve the same sporty effect.

      3.    Driving over broken roads and rough stretches is a no-stress affair, thanks to the generous, 190mm ground clearance on the Hyundai i20 Active.

      4.    The suspension on the Active has been tweaked to offer a more pliant ride, with the car exhibiting neutral behaviour in the handling department.

      5.    Step inside & you’ll love the well-appointed cabin and the way it is almost European to look at. Everything feels well put together and also has a built-to-last appeal.

      6.    Boot space, at 285 litres isn’t the largest in the segment, but it is shaped well, with minimal suspension intrusions, resulting in a highly usable storage area.

      7.    The 1.4 litre, four cylinder CRDi engine packs quite a punch. Turbo lag is minimal, and the smooth power delivery will make you want to spend more time at the throttle. Drivability is good and the six-speed gearbox ensures that you make short work of going through the ratios.

      8.    The overall NVH levels and refinement is one of the things you’ll like in the Hyundai i20 Active. From the time you thumb the start-stop switch and get going, to crawling in traffic & caning it down the open road, nothing really intrudes much into the cabin.

      9.    From the way the doors close with a satisfying thunk, to the soft-damped feedback of the various steering controls, the attention to detail here is terrific.

      10.  From projector based headlamps with DRL’s to 16-inch diamond cut alloys, keyless entry & go system to a rear air conditioner vents, cooled glove box etc. Hyundai have really piled on the features with this car.
