The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is a bold, fresh move from the country’s number one car manufacturer. At the Auto Expo earlier this year, Maruti pulled out all stops as it fired its first salvo under an ambitious ‘Transformotion’ plan. Here’s 10 things to know about the Vitara Brezza:

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is the first ever compact-SUV model in the company’s illustrious history.

The car was under-development for over half-a-decade & Maruti’s designers have done a stellar job in penning the lines. Bold, modern & masculine, the styling is a huge draw for the car.

One of the 10 things to know about the Vitara Brezza is that the company has retained the tried & tested DDiS200 engine as the powerplant of choice for the car. With 89 bhp of power & more importantly, 200 Nm torque on tap, the Brezza is a hoot to drive.

      1. The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza goes one-up on its S-Cross sibling in the fuel efficiency department, thanks to intelligent weight saving measures adopted across the entire car.

      2. While a few people were expecting the Brezza to be offered in an AWD option, Maruti has ruled it out, sticking to the tried & tested, transverse, front-wheel drive layout only.

      3. The Brezza has been launched in a diesel-only option for now. The company hasn’t ruled out a petrol engine at some, later stage in the product cycle, though there’s no hint of the more powerful, DDiS320 option at all.

      4. The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is a well-thought out car on the space-management front. There’s ample room in the cabin for the passengers, while the 328 litre boot, with its low-loading lip & 60:40 split-seating make moving stuff a breeze.

      5. The car is said to have been engineered with the proposed safety norms that are due to be rolled out in India in the near future.

      6. The oh-so-desirable, dual tone paint options are available only on the top-end variants. All others have to make do with the regular, single tone colour option.

      7. The car features well-thought out interiors & feels plush when sitting inside. Both rows of seats have more than adequate head room & leg room.

      8. From Apple Car Play connectivity to an advanced, touch screen infotainment system, the car is fully loaded on the features front.

      9. The car has been launched with an astounding 98% localization level.

      10. The car is sold through regular dealerships & not the NEXA premium retailer network.
