      The Maruti Suzuki Eeco Charge was revealed in the 2010 Auto Expo as a low cost family car. The car was designed especially for the 2010 Commonwealth games held in the national capital same year. A noteworthy effort in direction of promoting green cars in India, the Eeco Charge wasn’t released as a retail model. Maruti Suzuki is now all set to launch the new version of Maruti Suzuki Eeco in market; expectations are we will get a chance to see this green car again.

      Other than electric version, the Maruti Suzki car is also available as a petrol and CNG trim in Indian automotive market. Maruti offered 10 Eeco Charge units to run in the Commonwealth representing Indian commitment to greener environment. The heart of this car got energized by an electric mill that employed latest lithium-ion batteries. The battery could produce maximum power of 50KW aka 67BHP. A 220V battery it needed 7 hours to get recharged and bestowed the car with a capacity to achieve a top speed of 100kmph. Also, it could easily cover 100kms distance range in a single charge. The emissions levels were zero and the car was totally safe for environment.

      The present version of this car has been successful in maintaining a steady balance in market. With a monthly sale of 4800units, it has done really well. The car is presently available in a 5 & 7-seater option and is finally prepared for a facelift after five years. The homegrown car maker will be primarily giving it some cosmetic changes along with refreshed interiors. The power train, however, will be the same constituted by a 1.2-litre 74PS petrol mill and a 5-speed manual gearbox. The present price of this car falls in the range of Rs.3.1lakhs to Rs.4.17lakhs (ex-showroom).
