      There have been a long association of cars and Bollywood from a long time. Movies have been shot with cars in the theme of the story. More recently, posh cars and bikes have been shot with lead actors donning them in style. Almost all movies are shot with one or two such scenes, where cars have been the highlight. In some other movies, cars have been the prime centre of the plot. Also, these models get a status of celebrity cars after the movie releases and become a cult in the country. One such example is Amitabh Bachchan's Rampyari – the model, which popularised Beetle cars in India.

      The fictional Rampyari character in the movie Akela has played a crucial role in the movie. Here Amitabh Bachchan plays a loner, where Rampyari is his only friend. Ram Pyaari is actually a specially customised Volkswagen Beetle, which had popularised Beetle cars in India. The car is also tagged in a popular song Chal Chal Re Chal Meri Rampyari.

      The new car is powered by a four-cylinder 1984 cc petrol engine with a power output of 114 bhp at the rate of 5400 rpm. Also, the torque output of the car is 172 Nm at the rate of 3200 rpm. On an average, the car gives a mileage of 11.3 kilometres per litre. The standard seating capacity of the car is four persons with two rows of seating. Power is transmitted to the wheels using a six-speed gearbox with AWD given as an option. The fuel tank capacity of the car is 55 litres, which makes it quite good for long rides, as well.

      The car had popularised Beetle cars in India and introduced the brand Volkswagen to the Indian market. Also, the car came in bold colours as depicted in the movie. Also, Beetle received a cult status and was considered among celebrity cars, after its outing with Amitabh Bachchan.
