Bollywood celebrities’ affection for lavish and expensive cars has never been a secret. Gifting exorbitant cars is one of their ways to show their generosity and love. Few Bollywood celebrities keep on gifting expensive cars and other things to their loved ones, and Ajay Devgan is one of them. He gifted an Audi Q7 to his lady love, Kajol, on her birthday in 2009.
The Q7 is one of the popular celebrity cars in India, which is also owned by Arshad Warsi, Bipasa Basu, Deepika Padukone, Emraan Hashmi, John Abraham, Katrina Kaif, Slaman Khan, Varun Dhawan, Asin and Ronit Roy.
The Q7, Audi’s first SUV in India, was first launched in 2005 and received a mid-lift facelift in 2009. The SUV, based on an adapted version of the Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne’s platform, looks very masculine and sporty. It’s one of the most popular Audi cars in India. The SUV has a commanding road presence, thanks to its hefty body-built, immensely high bonnet and a large nose.
The crankcase saves its weight, and makes it strong and more compact. The crankshaft is composed of chromium molybdenum steel and the aluminum pistons. A sports styling package is available only on the Technology version that includes high gloss finish on grille and bumper, reinforced bumpers with larger air inlet, 10-spoke, 20-inches wheels and bright roof rails. It’s a pure German beauty from inside.
The interior layout, quality of the controls and ease are better than the Mercedes GL. It’s spacious and comfortable. The high mounted rear seats provide great visibility, but headroom and legroom are restricted. The SUV has plenty of goodies to offer such as a BOSE audio system, 4-zone climate control system, parking system plus with rearview camera, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function, 8 airbags and many more.
Powering the SUV is a 3.0-litre TDI Quattro diesel engine that develops a maximum power of 241.3bhp between 3800-4400rpm with a peak torque of 550Nm between 1750-2750rpm. Engine is substantially smooth, refined, and barely audible. An 8-speed automatic gearbox transmits power to all four wheels. It’s one of the most fun-to-drive Audi cars in India both on and off-roads.
Despite having a heavy body-built, the car offers excellent driving dynamics, handling and ride quality. The adaptive air suspension, with 4 modes – Off-road, Comfort, Auto and Dynamic – adjusts the ride height to navigate through rough road surfaces. However, there is a significant body roll. The Q7 has got all for what celebrity cars are known for – i.e. premium styling, plush and comfortable interior and efficient engine.
