Bluetooth wireless technology has, now, become more prevalent in automobiles. Most cars come with in-built Bluetooth, as standard connectivity feature, for hands-free calls and other entertainment purposes. Aiming to cope-up with the technological advancement, many automakers and IT firms are working on innovative in-car connectivity and navigational technologies.  Just like the smart technology shoes, there are Sensoria Smart Socks that provide specific information by sensing the moves of your foot and pressure applied on them.

Ducere Technologies, an Indian company working on wearable technology, introduced Lechal smart Bluetooth shoes and insoles that are integrated with Google Maps. They buzz your foot to tell you the right direction. The smart Bluetooth shoes – Lechal – means “take me along” in Hindi. The concept, however, was originally developed for helping visually impaired. Later, the company’s founders recognized the market scope of this shoes technology and made it more innovative and useful by adding some new features.

      How they work?

The shoes or insoles are integrated with car Bluetooth to an app that draws your way from Google Maps. These shoes start buzzing to inform you about direction to turn. A right shoe buzzing means you have to take a right turn, whereas you need to take a left if the left foot buzzes.

To activate the shoes and insoles, there is a rechargeable battery affixed into the back side of the insole or behind the shoes heel. The battery charger, world’s first interactive charger, gives an audio feedback when it gets fully charged or touched by fingers.

      How useful they are?

When you drive, it becomes quite inconvenient to focus on the navigation map display. The Smart Bluetooth shoes help you get the right direction. Unlike, other interior car accessories, the smart technology shoes can also be used to notify nearby landmarks to travelers or tourists and send alerts to proximity phones. They also make an alert if you forget to pick your phone and leave it behind. The footwear can also work as a wrist-worn fitness device that will track your exercise, activities and calories.

      How to buy them?

The Lechal smart Bluetooth shoes will be available in select stores, though the pre-booking has already begun on the product website. The shoes are offered in red and black color and look very stylish. Ducere keeps them with the high-end athletic shoes and priced around $100 - $150.  Seeing the kind of initial curiosity these shoes have been able to create, they can become one of the most popular car accessories in India in coming years.
