      Among the most tempting features for a prospective buyer while purchasing a car is its fuel economy. When people plan to buy a model of their choice, they want the car to deliver an efficient mileage along with good performance on city roads as well as highways. In the past, it was believed that only a diesel version of an automobile returns a good mileage but over the years, the advancement in technology has made the petrol cars to also provide a similar performance.       1. Next is the Japanese auto maker's stylish hatchback, called Toyota Etios Liva. This car is available in petrol and diesel guise and both these engines arrive in different capacities. The 1.2-litre petrol mill of this hatchback delivers a fuel economy figure of 17.71 kmpl, whereas, the 1.4-litre diesel engine produces a statistic of 23.59 kmpl. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre petrol engine gives out 16.78 kmpl of fuel economy and Toyota Etios Liva mileage in 1.5-litre diesel mill is 23.59 kmpl.

      1. The Japanese car maker’s hot hatchback Nissan Micra is available in a 1.2-litre petrol engine with the option of a 1.5-litre diesel mill. The former delivers an efficient mileage of 18.44 kmpl and the latter records a figure of 23.08 kmpl.

      1. Maruti Suzuki Swift is a dynamic looking car and is among the top-notch sellers of the company. Its 1.2-litre petrol engine produces a mileage of 18.6 kmpl and the 1.3-litre diesel mill records a fuel economy of 22.9 kmpl.

      1. The German auto major’s sleek looking hatchback, Volkswagen Polo is also a good competitor in the most efficient mileage cars of the country. The car's 1.2-litre petrol engine records a mileage of 16.47 kmpl, whereas, this figure is elevated to 22.04 kmpl in the 1.2-litre diesel mill.

      1.  Chevrolet Sail is the mid-range sedan of the American car maker and is available in both diesel and petrol guise. Its 1.2-litre petrol engine delivers a fuel economy statistic of 18.2 kmpl and the 1.3-litre diesel mill records a figure of 22.1 kmpl.
