A network through which cars and other roadside units act as communicating nodes to share and provide information is known as Vehicular Communication System. The information consists of safety warnings and traffic information. The automobile technology of vehicle to vehicle communication may prove to be effective in avoiding accidents and traffic congestion.

The car to car communication contains two nodes: the vehicles plying on roads and roadside stations, which work in a short range. These are all Dedicated Short Range Communication systems (DSRC). This vehicle to vehicle communication system is a part of Intelligent Transport System (ITS) of automobile technology in cars.

This car to car communication concept has been approved by many countries because of its advanced features, which assist in ensuring safety and preventing accidents. An organization named Intelligence Transportation Society of America (ITSA) has sought to implement this new automobile technology in cars.

Many universities are still researching on designing new automobile technologies. In a vehicle to vehicle communication, the car will serve components of transmitters or receivers. The new technology will give information about avoiding obstacles and give intersection warnings. It has various applications for vehicles plying on roads which are:

      1. Safety: It ensures safety of vehicles as the car to car communication helps in identifying the positions of the neighbouring car moving on road and alerts about any obstacles therein.

      1. Traffic Management: It reduces traffic jams and helps in the easy flow. It transmits messages to car drivers about the variable speed limits also.

      1. Driver assistance systems: The automobile technology in cars helps the drivers in parking and lane assistance controls.

      1. Policing and enforcement: The police can transmit orders about strict speed limits and restricted entries in some lanes.

      1. Direction and route choice or optimization: One can reach a destination through different routes. The automobile technology in future cars provides information about different route maps.

      1. General information services: Other than vehicular information, this system also helps one to download the important files.

      1. Automated highways: Here, one can drive cars without the help of drivers as the vehicle to vehicle communication updates all the information about the neighbouring cars.

On the whole, this car to car communication in future technology cars will help a lot in improving the roadside network and free movement of vehicles on roads.
