Fitted with a computerized chip, the Ford Motor Company, for its 2015 Mustang EcoBoost has given it an Active Sound Generator. The new Ford Mustang with its visceral looks, sounds and performance resonates with people all over, and now the people can experience the sound in-house. The active sound generator in the Mustang EcoBoost gives the driver an adrenaline rush by playing sounds from the speakers so that the driver would feel he is driving a racing car. This active sound generator on the new Ford Mustang EcoBoost is not a first. The Ford ST also had this feature.

However, no Ford cars in India still have adapted this feature. The active sound generator is used to enhance the sound of what would otherwise be a very normal-sounding engine. This system helps eliminating the coarser sounds made by the direct-injected and turbocharged 2.3-liter 4-cylinder engine in the Mustang EcoBoost and often enhances it. The computerized chip determines the torque output and adjusts thing correctly. The Ford Mustang EcoBoost has this feature fitted into the car’s head unit.

The use of the active sound generator has been on an incline recently. Auto makers like BMW and Lexus have also used this feature. Ford car dealers in India and Ford cars in India have never witnessed this specific set. Automakers are well aware that enhancing the engine sound increases the overall behind the wheel experience. The new Ford Mustang has just adapted to this technology, listening to the demands of its consumers. Raj Nair, the product development chief of Ford Motor Company has said that the sound of their cars echoes with the people who have never even driven Ford cars in India. This sound generator will help the company achieve this. Enhancing the overall experience of the car, Ford has said that this feature, for now, will stay only for the Mustang EcoBoost.

Dave Perciak, in an interview in 2013, said that the sound is not ripped off the shelves. It is the original sound that is processed and played through the car’s speakers. While many will welcome this move, people suggest the fake sounds will drive them away (no pun intended). For those who do not want the fake sounds, you will have to change the sound system and if you don’t want all that hassle either, you can opt for the V6 model and the GT model to experience the real thing.
