      1. People should take the advice of their mechanic or the dealer or any auto expert before buying the tyres for their vehicles. It is also recommended to fit the tyres, which are outlined by the car maker as doing the opposite might result in harming the vehicle's performance. For example, Maruti Suzuki Swift is equipped with tyres having standard dimensions as 165/80 R14, where 165 stands for section width, 80 stands for aspect ratio, R is radial and 14 is the rim diameter in inches.

      1. There are a variety of tyres available in the market, manufactured by renowned companies, such as Apollo, MRF, JK Tyres, Bridgestone, Ceat and Goodyear. These tyres can be classified on the basis of their usage:

      • Standard: These tyres are made up of hardened rubber, which helps in extending their life. These are the moderate type of tyres, which can be used during all seasons and are most suitable while driving on city roads and highways. They can be bought within a price range of Rs. 2000 – Rs. 3000 (cost of each piece).
      • Summer Performance: These performance tyres are specially crafted and designed according to different seasons. During summers, the roads generally get hot and after excessive usage, the standard tyres tend to lose their grip and cornering ability on such paths. The summer tyres are manufactured using soft compound rubber, which gives maximum grip to the driver at high speed and sharp bends. They do not have any tread on the surface and therefore, give maximum grasp of the rubber to the roads. They usually cost between Rs. 3500 – Rs.4500 a piece.
      • Winter Performance: These tyres have larger and more visible tread patterns; thus providing extra grip on wet and snowy roads. Generally, these tyres are incorporated with metal studs, which helps in increased grip on muddy and snow covered paths. These type of tyres can be purchased within a bracket of Rs. 5000 – Rs. 6000 per piece.
      • All Terrain: These tyres are ideal for an enthralling off-roading experience as they comprise big chunky treads, which offer maximum grip on lose sandy terrains and rocky paths. The edges of these tyres are also hard so that no harm is caused to them on rugged patches. These tyres generally cost Rs. 2500 – Rs. 5000 per piece.
      1. People can select from the aforementioned types as per their requirements, however they must make a note of the authenticity of these. These good-quality tyres should be bought from an authorised dealer only and not any local vendor.

      1. The safety concerns associated with the tyres should also be considered as such purchases are not done in quick spans and there wrong choice might prove hazardous. Proper inflation and pressurisation of the tyres should be examined before buying them and their treads should also be inspected to see if there is no wear and tear.
