About Audi RS6 Avant

Seeing the growing demand for performance-oriented cars in India, Audi, the German luxury carmaker, has introduced performance oriented versions of its multiple popular cars in the country. The Ingolstadt-based carmaker is betting big on its RS range. After introducing the RS5 and RS7, the company launched the RS6 Avant in India. The RS6 Avant is basically the estate version of the popular A6 sedan. Just so you know, it is the only performance-oriented estate model available in India.

The RS6 Avant looks aggressive with a wider body and distinct front and rear ends. Trademark RS styling elements are clearly visible on the exterior styling such as aluminum mirror caps and huge twin oval exhaust pipes. Also on offer are the matte aluminum and carbon appearance packages that include large Quattro badge up front, which splits the "Single-frame" grille. The RS6 model features a slim headlight design and simple, yet attractive tail lamps. Up front, the Avant has ultra-thin LED daytime lights and Audi's new Matrix LED headlights, which are offered as standard. These lights offer a greater level of forward vision in nights without troubling other motorists. On sides, the performance estate gets large wheel arches, side sills and acoustic glazing across all windows. The flared wheel arches of the RS6 Avant have been fitted to a newly styled 21-inch alloy wheels.

Inside the cabin, the RS6 Avant gets a trademark RS treatment with a flat-bottom steering wheel, an 8,000rpm tachometer and RS logos all around. The MMI system now features a brand new Nvidia Tegra 30 graphics chip, which makes the navigation and other infotainment functions faster. Moreover, these also bring new features to infotainment. The high-resolution Driver Information System in the centre of the instrument cluster displays vehicle information and map-based navigation display. It features a range of driver assistance systems like Adaptive Cruise Control, night vision assistant, Lane assist and heads-up display that makes long run comfortable.

Engine & Transmission

The Audi RS6 Avant is powered by Audi's 4.0 TFSI V8 petrol engine that churns out massive 560bhp of power and 700Nm of peak torque. This engine is paired to an eight-speed tiptronic gearbox which sends power to all-4 wheels via Audi's Quattro all-wheel drive system. The car accelerates to 100kmph from zero in mere 3.9 seconds, which is quite excitingly fast for a wagon. It comes with cylinder-in demand- with Audi's valvelift that means only 4 cylinder works most of the time. The intake and exhaust valves of two-cylinders per side shut down when not required.

Performance & Handling

Powering the Audi RS6 Avant is a 4.0-litre TFSI twin-turbo V8 engine producing 560bhp. Paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox, the vehicle is claimed to attain 0-100kmph in a mere 3.9 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph. Power delivery is linear, and a short acceleration will offer an exciting driving experience. The engine performance well in low rev too. The V8 twin-turbo offers a massive 700NM of torque that can allow you to cruise in higher gears without compromising the performance. The performance-oriented Avant carries a decent ground clearance to tackle Indian road conditions.

Braking System

The Audi RS6 Avant features massive discs at both front and rear, and large sized tyres help in stopping the car even on panic situations. It features Electronic differential lock that automatically controls the assistant of brakes on slippery surfaces. The Vehicle is equipped with anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake force distribution (EBD) and hydraulic brake assist, ceramic brakes that further enhances the overall braking system.

The 3993 cc Petrol - powered variant delivers a fuel economy of 8 kmpl in city and 10 kmpl on highways.

Safety Features

The Audi RS6 Avant is equipped with full size airbags for front and rear occupants. Adding to it, the car also offers side, front and head airbags for all the passengers. It is loaded with advanced safety and security features like anti-lock brake system (ABS) with electronic brake force distribution (EBD) and hydraulic brake assist and anti-slip regulation (ASR) that avoids wheel-locking and skidding during panic braking. Also on offer is the electronic differential lock that offers good control while running on slippery surfaces. Other safety features include night vision assistant, cruise control, hold assist, rear view camera, camera based limit display, child-proof lock, safety steering column, to name a few.

The new Audi RS6 Avant is one of the country's first performance oriented estate, which is quick, comfortable and very practical. Its 4.0L TFSI twin-turbo petrol motor offers breathtaking performance, and the ride quality is also very impressive.

For instance, the RS6 is the only estate variant available in our market. So, there is no competition for the performance oriented car in India.
