For entry level car Maruthi 800 is still very good. you can see if booking possible for Nano as Tata is increasing production rate and clear the backlog soon.New Alto would be perhaps just out of your budget so you can see the used car sites for good bargain cars.Used Chevy Spark may also come in your range.

If fuel efficiency is your first concern than Maruti Alto is a choice for you otherwise you can go for Hundai Santro.

If your drive mostly in city and occasional long trip, seriously think about NANO. Don't believe what people say, go and drive it and I am sure you will like it. In city driving it deliver an excellent FE of around 22 kmpl.
