Your problem could be either due to the syncromesh mechanism being out of order, or due to the gearbox needing to be rebuilt. Adjusting anything in the gear shift is at best a temporary solution and unlikely to solve your problem. If the syncromesh mechanism can be fixed, great. Or else, if you need to rework the gearbox - Compared to consulting a variety of mechanics, you might actually try and find a replacement gearbox and get it changed. It will save you the heartache and uncertainty, and since the car is still driving well, will serve you for a longer time. If the cost factor becomes too high, you may have to let your car go and look for an alternative. That's the way it sometimes is with cars that are out of production.

You could try Manoj Menon - 98804 09123 of Z-Tech Motors. I used them while I had the Cielo.

Pls take the car to Daewoo cielo authorised service center & get the gear box overhauled with original overhauling kit. Or replace the gear box with another used one. There no meaning spending money for adustments etc.

i agree with shiva its better you replace the gearbox and ask your mechanic to thoroughly check the gearbox before replacing it even better if he can give you some warranty even if he charges a bit more for the replacement.

i also face the same problem in 5th gear you go the mechenic and tell hin he will change the 5th gear in gear box no need to adjust anything you problem will be solved

United motors is a Bosch service center and nice place to get to car serviced, Daewoo or any other brand like the Opel is serviced by them,try once if u guys havnt, i hav a Daewoo Cielo 1988 which has clocked 1lac kms ths month and is in excellent condition,i regularly get is servced frm United Motors on the Chord road,thy charge a lil more thn others but are perfect in what ever thy do, my bill came came upto 12400 n the car was wit them for 4 days, trust me nw the car is really very smooth and m gettin an average of 9.5 in city,i had been for a long drive jz after the day my car got serviced and an average of 12 on full tank basis, my service was pending for more than a year and tat is y i had a lot 2 pay them, obviously its not a car for daily use as the spares are expensive and not easily available.I had also been to another place called Ideal Motors in Rajajinagar,he was not all that clear in what he wanted to say, i finally decided to give it to united motors, thy charge a lil more thn others but are perfect in what ever thy do. United Motors is a nice palce and ppl ter can be trusted.i would all of u to go ter for any problems.
