Hi,
Alto comes with a 3 cylinder 796 cc 47 BHP engine,ground clerence of 160MM,warranty of 2 years/40K KM.Mileage of around 18 KMPL.Advantage is the reliability,mileage.Disadvantage is the lesser boot space and warranty backup.
Indica Xeta GLS comes with a 1194 cc 4 cylinder engine delivering output of 64BHP.ground clearence of 170MM.warranty of 18 months unlimited mileage.Mileage of average of 14-16KMPL.Advantages of Indica are the good interior space,build qulity and can carry 5 people comfortably. Disadvantage are the lower mileage by 2KMPL on avergae compared to that of Alto and sevice maintenance charges may be on higher side by 1 or 2K.AC of both are efficient.
In overall to select one Indica makes a better option though spending few thousands more on maintenance you can enjoy beter comforts on account of build quality,interior space and power.

I understand u r driving is less so 1-2kmpl does,nt matter to you but safety & comfort is the priority & for this Indica is always adviceable as compare to Alto

Go in for ALTO, it is a proven vehicle. Very fuel efficient and it is very reliable at the same time when compared to Indica. You can check the satisfaction and performance from owners of Alto. Engine and mechanicals are more important than interiors and seats. Yes Indica is safe because it hardly runs properly so lesser the accidents.

I AM SATISFIED WITH MY INDICA WITH FUEL AVERAGE OF 1/2 KM LESS THA ALTO. THE SPACE, CMFORT AND SAFETY MATTER WHILE DRIVING. AC IS VERY GOOD BUT I FACE A PROBLEM WITH THE WHEELS , IF U DO'NT BOTHER TO SEE THE HUMP AND DRIVE WITH SPEED CERTAINLY THERE WILL BE PROBLEMS IN THE ALLIGNMENT AND MAY HAVE EFFECT ON THE TYRE WHICH IS A CON. STILL OPTION FOR INDICA WILL BE PRUDENT.

Oh, please. The Alto doesn't have any design flaws, but all Tata cars are designed badly and will definitely give you problems. If you are okay with visiting the mechanic frequently, then the Tata car has the space and the power and the slightly colder AC. But if you want to buy a car that is a rock solid performer, gives you better mileage, and is very, very reliable, the Alto will satisfy you.

indica xeta is definitely a better car as far as space ,comfort ,safety and better ac are concerned the resale price of maruti cars has always been better .as far as visit to mechanics is concerned if you care for your car right from begining and follow instruction manual xeta is trouble free.anyway you should never listen to people who cook stories have opinion about everything present on earth but do not support their answers with proper reason or logic.its better you test drive the cars yourself and decide rather than listening to baseless stories .i have earlier in my answers asked the so called self proclaimed car experts as to how many tata cars have they driven ? how many kilometers ? what are the troubles they faced ?and what car do they drive presently?i drive tata apart from Range Rover and i hve not found any thing wrong in tata cars .my safari is my 7th tata in the past 10 yrs and it has 72000 kms in 13 months without any trouble.

according to me mr, shekhar xeta is a very best car in your desires. because maintaince is depend upon your way of driving . if you driving good . you will get good mileage and great performance. as compare to alto . it has low space and not so comfortable according to xeta . so buy xeta ..

I think Indica is far better than Alto. The engine is more powerful than alto, also external body is strong, more specious. Only leakage is service compared to maruti.
In my eye Indica is good choice

i have owned an indica for the last 8 years. the car is not trouble free, but the real value of the car has come in the safety and space departments. it is very safe in acidents, i have had 4 over the years and by gods grace come unscathed!! we have come from the stattion with 10 pcs of luggage and 5 ppl, and have all fitted in the car easily.
the alto on the other hand is smaller in size, but mechanically a superior product. sitting in my friends alto, i always feel cramped for room.
if you dont have a very high driving range, then go for the indica, maintain it well, and it will give you a very good service!!

I am using xeta for last 3 years and it is trouble free and a perfect family car. you may have to compromise on mileage as you are going to have high power engine with good pick up and space to enjoy.

Hi Shekhar,

I own both Alto and Indica. I should suggest you to go for Alto due to better mileage, reliable and much better design for specially city traffics. Since then I have the Alto, I never bother to take out Indica instead. Also I had some issues with dealers and services centers from TATA. But Maruti is always on time and accurate for me.
